- Homewood Students working for the JHMI School of Medicine
Hiring departments within the JHMI School of Medicine MUST write a letter to the Registrar, School of Medicine, to request that an Identification Badge be issued for any Homewood student working in their office or lab. Upon receiving the letter, the Registrar's office will give the student an I.D. Request Form. The student must complete the form and take it to the JHMI Parking & Identification Office where the actual badge will be issued.
The letter MUST include the student's full name, Personnel Number and reason for the badge (i.e., Homewood student working in Pathology Dept.), and length of employment. Please use department letterhead.
Students working for other divisions (i.e., School of Public Health, School of Nursing, Bayview, etc.) must contact the Office of Student Employment Services for information on obtaining a student employee I.D. Badge.
- J-CARD
Effective Jan. 1 2007, the J-Card Office is requesting the use of a Personnel SubArea number on J-Card application paperwork instead of the formerly required PCN. This will enable the office to correctly identify the status of a new employee (i.e. faculty or staff) to ensure that the right card is issued. The list of Personal Sub Area Numbers is online at http://www.idcs.jhu.edu/ (click on "JHU Personnel Subarea listing (PDF)").
Also, please provide the Cost Center and SAP GL Account number on all visitor forms if library privileges are to be given. For questions, please call the J-Card office at 410-516-5121.
- Visiting Students
Visiting students may obtain a J-Card. To get a JCard their hiring department MUST complete a JCARDS
for Visiting Students Form. This form can be downloaded, click
here (pdf format). Once complete, the form must be sent to the office
of ID Card Services, afterwhich the student can visit ID Card Services to
obtain their J-Card. Please make sure that all visiting students go to the
Registrar's Office BEFORE going to ID Card Services - the
registrar MUST first put the student in the USIS System before the card can
be processed.
Please Note: Visiting students invited to work at JHMI
or other Hopkins institution must be processed through the appropriate Human
Resource or business office. For further information regarding visiting
students, contact Student Employment Services at 6-8421.
- Postdocs
Postdoctoral Fellow may obtain a J-Card. To obtain a J-Card the hiring department must notify the J-CARD office (ID Card Services) by email @ jcard@jhu.edu. The email must include the postdoc fellows Name, Personnel Number & Job Title. Once they receive the email the J-CARD office enters the information into their system; afterwhich the Fellow must visit the J-CARD office to pick-up their card. Note, the card is issued as a staff card.
For all other students and additional information, please visit the website of ID Card Services.
- Check Pick-up
All Homewood students paid hourly who have not elected Direct Deposit MUST present their Student I.D. (J-CARD) to Student Employment Services in order to pick-up their hourly paycheck(s). Lost or stolen cards should immediately be reported to the J-CARD Services office and/or the Homewood JHU Security office. Students may use another form of photo I.D. to obtain their paycheck no more than two times during the academic year.
