The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services require a Form I-9 to be completed by all new student employees. This refers to students who are new to the University payroll system (SAP) or students who have a break in service of more than 3 days if the original From I-9 was not completed electronically.
Please note, you must complete Section 1 of Form I-9 on or before the first day of work. This can be done by visiting www.newI9.com and inserting the employer code 11472.
The following applies to all Homewood students who are registered full-time, regardless of where the student is employed within the JHU community:
- U.S. Citizens: You must visit the Office of Student Employment Services (SES) to present documentation for completion of Section 2 within three (3) business days from the first day of work for pay. Failure to so will result in work suspension and/or termination. For a list of acceptable documents click here......
- International Students and Permanent Residents: You must complete Section 1 of the Form I-9 on or before the first day of work.
- For students who have a social security number issued by the U.S. Social Security Administration, you can complete Section 1 by taking the following steps:
- Sign on to www.newI9.com
- Insert employer code 11472 and “continue”
- Enter the text indicated in the box and “continue”
- Complete Section 1 of the Form I-9
- Select “Non-U.S. citizen faculty, staff, and student” as location
- Review the information for accuracy
- Complete the agreement section
- Click “continue”
Next
- Go to the OISSS web site at ww2.jhu.edu/isss/Services
- See STEP 1 to print the Data Collection Form for your employer to complete.
- Take the completed Data Collection Form along with evidence of identity and work authorization to OISSS to complete Section 2, Garland Hall, room 135.
- Students who do NOT have a social security number issued by the U.S. Social Security Administration must visit the OISSS to complete Section 1.
